It is a special honor for Camp Nathanael to include a quilt created by Leo Cline, senior SMMM missionary, in the interior decorations for the newly expanded Bethlehem. The quilt was hand stitched by Mrs. Cline and her mother, Cornelia Cornett, around 1930. It has received many admiring comments from visitors throughout the summer. Two ministry teams from Calvary Church, Lancaster, PA, have been a great help in recent weeks. A group of seven constructed the final piece to the Bethlehem Project by building a 575 square feet deck over Old House Branch which runs along the backside of the building. SMMM partnered with EKRDM in late July for its annual camping outreach to the deaf community of eastern Kentucky. This ministry, under the direction of Richie Noble, has a vital program of meeting the spiritual needs of the hearing impaired. For several years SMMM has provided the camp facilities and the support staff (food service, horseback riding etc.) while the EKRDM team provides the programming for those attending. ...continue

In recognition of this special anniversary year the Mission has produced a commemorative DVD celebrating its history and ministry since 1932. Using historical pictures, archival film and current video the thirty-five minute presentation follows SMMM from its earliest days in Hyden, KY to the 2007 camp season. Family Week 2007 was a tremendous celebration of SMMM's 75th Anniversary. A record crowd of 398 guests from fourteen states registered with the enlarged Bethlehem serving 225-250 people at each meal. The week was highlighted with special mini-dramas, personal recollections and visual displays recounting the history of this ministry.
