Camp Nathanael Scholarships Announced
August 27, 2008
SMMM is happy to announce the establishment of the Camp Nathanael Scholarship and the two outstanding students who are its first recipients. This competitive award is being made possible through the generosity of a former camper for students of the several county ministry area served by SMMM. It will offer financial assistance to participants in the Camp Nathanael programs who exhibit a Christian testimony which is consistent with their faith, participation in at least three weeks of resident camp and exhibit the aspiration and ability to achieve a degree in higher education.
Josh Haywood, a 2007 graduate of Harlan Independent High School, and Devan Blevins, a 2008 graduate of Evarts High School, are the scholarship’s first beneficiaries. Josh is a sophomore at Liberty University majoring in Biblical Studies with the goal of entering ministry in the future. Devan will attend the University of Kentucky with an anticipated major in pre-law. Both of these young men are second generation campers as their mothers attended Camp Nathanael as well.
