Construction Continues!

Posted by Roy on March 25, 2009

We’ve had good progress on the mountain cabin this week. After two great days of work we had rain today which has slowed things down. The team continued to “nibble” at it today between the showers.
They say a picture speaks a thousand words. Well, here are about 6,000 “words”.
Enjoy!

Almost Like Lancaster Co!

Posted by Roy on March 23, 2009

Today we began the construction of the Mountain Cabin Nature Center (formerly known as the Log House Project). As I’d mentioned earlier the restoration costs got too large for the log house so we altered our plans to build an old style mountain cabin instead. I’m grateful for the several gifts which have recently arrived [...]

Back To The Beginning

Posted by Roy on March 14, 2009

A person rarely has the opportunity to revisit those places in life that greatly impacted you. Well, yesterday I had just such an opportunity. I, along with Debbie, our oldest son, Caleb, and his family, Gabby and Elsie, visited The Stony Brook School (NY) from which I graduated in June 1969. I had not been [...]

New Voice, New Face, New Duties, Same Wisdom

Posted by Roy on March 11, 2009

“Good morning, Camp Nathanael.” There’s a slight hesitation on the other end of the phone line. “Dan?” “No, this is Josh, would you like Dan?” That’s the reaction when a mission worker or a regular caller contacts the mission office lately. We’re all getting used to the new voice answering the telephone.
Josh Feltner is settling [...]

Our Greatest Resource

Debbie and I continue our participation in the GIC at Calvary Church. We’ve had the opportunity to visit with several long-time friends, make some new ones and enjoy some good fellowship and some good food.
While that is a special part of any conference like this Debbie and I have had a vivid reminder of why [...]

On the Road

Posted by Roy on March 8, 2009

Debbie and I are on the road this week. We are participating in the Global Impact Conference at our home church, Calvary Church (Lancaster, PA), in my opinion one of the great missionary churches in America. The  theme for the week is “Entering the World for Jesus Sake” and Debbie and I are sharing the [...]

Dreams Meet Reality!

Posted by Roy on March 5, 2009

Have you ever had one of those situations where your dreams meet the reality of its cost? Well, that’s what we’re experiencing here this week.
Several of us within the mission had the dream, since the Mosley Farm was purchased in 2006, of restoring the 75 year old log house which stood on that property as a wonderful [...]

Look Who Came To Visit!

Posted by Roy on March 2, 2009

Friday night during the Adult Fellowship we had some special guests. Fanny Crosby, the renowned hymn writer and her husband shared the evening with us. (We didn’t keep them hidden in the kitchen all evening.) It was a great visit and a real treat for all our guests. Actually it’s Andy and Loretta Burgress from North Carolina. [...]

Sunday - What a Great Day!

Posted by Roy on March 2, 2009

Yesterday was a full day as many Sundays are around here. It began with light snow which altered a lot of church schedules but Debbie and I were able to make it to the pulpit supply assignment I’d accepted in Floyd County earlier last week.  I was reminded of Matthew 18:20, “For where two or [...]
